Real world propagation paths often involve obstructions such as trees, buildings, and terrain. The additional loss associated with such obstructions is known as "diffraction loss." PATHANAL supports two common diffraction conditions: Knife-Edge and Rounded-Edge.

Lee-Picquenard (Knife Edge) Diffraction
This example depicts a knife-edge situation. The Lee-Picquenard diffraction model is used to predict diffraction loss. In this example, a diffraction loss of 8.49 dB is expected.

Longley Rice (Rounded-Edge) Diffraction
This example depicts a rounded-edge diffraction situation. The Longley-Rice diffraction loss model is used to predict rounded-edge diffraction. In this example, a diffraction loss of 84.14 dB is expected.
